Object Description
A rare set of four George III antique sterling silver candlesticks with baluster-shaped columns. At the base of each column is a leaf design, which is repeated at the base of each nozzle. The round bases have a border of a bright-cut design.
Each candlestick in the set is numbered from one to four – the number is revealed under the removable sconces which are all hallmarked and original.
These beautiful candlesticks have very fine bright-cut engraving. This style of engraving became popular in the latter part of the 18th century. Engraving like this is quite rare on candlesticks as it is more commonly seen on salvers, trays and teaware.
