Shelton? Staffordshire Sailor boy figure

Object Description

Staffordshire figure with a maritime theme which features a young sailor, stood on a circular base. Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Decorated ‘in the round’ – decoration to front and reverse. Vent hole to the underside.

Object Condition

Generally good. KILN EFFECTS: kiln soot caught in the glaze to the base and reverse; tiny glaze pops to boy’s jacket; a couple of small shrinkage crack to underside, reverse and left wrist. RESTORATION. Head reglued and join retouched.
