Object Description
A nice example of a French silver four-glass mantel clock, newly re-plated and lacquered.
The clock was originally retailed by Harrods, and the 4-inch dial is signed HARRODS LTD., LONDON S.W., MADE IN FRANCE. The dial has stylised Arabic numerals, and blued steel lancet hands, and is set within an engine-turned brass bezel.
The fully overhauled French 8-day movement strikes the hours and the passing of the half hour on a coiled blued steel gong. It has a brocot regulator – this allow fine-tuning of the timing through the dial, to avoid having to move the clock and fiddle with the pendulum.
The pendulum has twin mercury-filled vials, with steel rods and a polished brass frame.
