Object Description

An exquisite early 1900s striking gilt and enamel mantel clock of very small proportions. The champlevé enamel-work is beautifully executed, set on a regilded brass domed top case, and raised on knurled adjustable feet.

The French 8-day mechanism is wound from the rear, and strikes the hours and the passsing of the half hour on a coiled gong. The movement is to be overhauled and guaranteed for 3 years.

The gilt dial has very finely painted black numerals and fine black spade hands. It is set behind a satin silvered mask.

The inside of the backdoor is engraved A&NCSL 105 Victoria St SW for the Army & Navy Store Co-Operative Society Limited, the original retailers of this clock.
