Object Description
A very fine Ancient Egyptian amulet formed from a vivid blue faience depicting the wedjat eye, or Eye of Horus. The details of the eye are carved in high relief, with deep grooves accentuating the brow bone at the top of the amulet, the round pupil, and the extended cosmetic line. A vertical cheek marking features beneath the pupil, from which the amulet curves in a spiral to the back. The reverse of the amulet is smooth and unadorned and features minor pitting. The amulet has been perforated horizontally for suspension. The faience displays a rich, deep blue glaze, exceptionally well-preserved across the amulet. Earthy encrustations feature to the surface, alongside minor wear consistent with age.
