Object Description
A small Ancient Egyptian turquoise faience amulet depicting the wedjat eye, or Eye of Horus. The amulet features the typical silhouette, combining human and falcon ocular imagery, and is adorned on both sides with carefully engraved detail. Horizontal incisions to the top portray the brow, further detailed with faint hatched, diagonal lines. Beneath features the almond-shaped eye and the cosmetic line, with a pupil incised into the centre. A vertical protrusion beneath portrays the cheek marking, from which the amulet curves to a flat end. The amulet is perforated horizontally for suspension. Some wear, pitting and minor earthy encrustations feature to the surface. A circle of glue residue on one side and two numbers inscribed to the top in dark ink remain from the previous collection.
