Small European Late Bronze Age Socketed Axe Head

Object Description

A fine European Bronze Age small, socketed axe head with a rectangular body tapering to a slightly convex cutting edge. The casting seam is visible to the top and bottom of the axe from where the two pieces have been fixed together.

Date: Circa 13th-9th century BC
Period: Late Bronze Age

Kuizenga collection, the Nethelands, formed from 1970s onwards.

Object Condition

Fine condition. Minor chips to the cutting edge. Earthly encrustations to the interior of the socket.
