A Charming And Extremely Attractive Late 18th Century, Georgian Sheraton Period Demi Lune Shaped Pier Table, Or Console Table, Of Demi Lune Shape And Extremely Rare Small Proportions, The Superbly Figured Mahogany Top With Inlaid Fan, Crossbanded Decoration And Segmented Radiating Veneers, Over Frieze With Satinwood Panels And Mahogany Banding, Raised On Elegant Square Tapering Legs With Rare Original Inlaid Spade Feet.
This little georgian demi lune table really is quite the charmer. Typical in design for the late Georgian period it is much smaller than commonly found and the craftsmanship which has gone into its creation is quite exceptional. It boasts high grade mahogany and satinwood timbers which have been used in a variety of different ways, using a variety of different techniques to create a really quite wonderfully decorative, but functional piece of furniture.
We refer to it as a pier table as it would probably originally have been made to stand against the piers which separate the large windows of a grand home. Others may just as legitimately refer to the piece as a console table, or even just a side table, all are fine and none of those are incorrect.
There are no structural defects or areas of significant historical damage to speak of, just the expected old marks which have blended into the surface which one would expect to find on an item which is well over 200 years old.
As with all items which we offer for sale it has been inspected in our workshops and attended to by our highly skilled, trained antique furniture restorers, receiving a natural wax polish before being placed on sale to ensure it is in its best possible condition and ready for immediate placement following purchase.
