Object Description
A Very Good Quality George III Period Mahogany Box Cellarette Having Cavetto Mould To Hinged Top, Enclosing Divided Interior, With Fantastic Shell Cast Original Brass Handles To Sides, Raised On Elegant Ring Turned Legs With Original Brass Castors.
A very good quality little piece of english georgian furniture which would have started its life as a cellarette for the storage of wine. It is of very elegant design and constructed from good quality timber which along with the exceptional brass handles suggest it would have been constructed in on of the top workshops of the time. It also stands with great presence for a relatively small piece of furniture.
It could now serve great purpose as a little occasional lamp table, coffee table, or even a little bedside table. There is also of course the added bonus of being able to utilise the interior storage space.
Overall the condition is good with very little historical damage of any kind and just a few old scuffs and scrapes which have now blended in with the surface and patina. It retains its original brass handles to the side and a working lock and key. The legs are also very elegant.
As with all items which we offer for sale it has been inspected in our workshops and attended to by our highly skilled, trained antique furniture restorers, receiving a natural wax polish before being placed on sale to ensure it is in its best possible condition and ready for immediate placement following purchase.
