A Tall Early 19th Century Georgian Mahogany Chest Of Five Long Drawers Having Well Figured Rectangular Top Over Five Drawers, With Replaced Brass Handles, Raised On Later Shaped Bracket Feet.
An elegant, functional, practical piece of furniture this chest of drawers is as fit for purpose as it was back in the early 19th century when it was originally made. It’s a great, sensible size and offers good storage options within its five sensible sized drawers.
This would be great in a whole host of rooms around the home including the obvious bedroom, but also in a home office or possibly in an entrance hall. It would even look great in the corner of a living room with a lamp, or possibly a sculpture displayed on top of it.
As mentioned the handles are replacements, however they sit well on the piece and stylistically are very much correct in terms of their look for the period of the chest. The shaped bracket feet which it stands on are later, possibly using the original wood however and most likely just shaped out from what would originally have been a solid plinth base.
Overall the condition is excellent and it has been well looked after over many years. As with all items which we offer for sale this chest has been through our workshops, where it has been looked over, cleaned, naturally waxed and polished in the traditional fashion by our expert craftsman restorers to ensure it is ready to go go straight into use. The drawers all have working locks, with a working key.
