Object Description

A Very Good Quality Early 19th Century Georgian Mahogany Writing Table Having Attractive Old Tooled Leather Writing Surface, Inset To Rectangular Top, Over One Long Frieze Drawer With Central Division And Original Brass Knobs, Raised On Square Slab End Supports, United By High Stretcher, And Four Elegant Sabre Legs With Original Brass Castors.

This neat, compact little writing table is full of charm, quality, sophistication and elegance. Typical in design for the late 18th century, or early 19th century, it is relatively small in stature meaning it can be utilised not just for its original purpose in a small office, but also in a huge variety of other places around the home and office.

The leather top is a good quality and retains a lovely lustre to it. Although its definitely old, it is almost certainly not original, so one should not be concerned if they wish to replace it for a modern, clean, blemish free leather.

The brass knobs on the drawer and also the brass castors appear to be very much original, the quality of their construction tying nicely in with the overall quality of the piece.

We can see this table on the back of a settee, tucked in the corner of a bedroom, freestanding in the centre of a room, or even in a library being utilised as a library table. To be honest the possibilities are endless.

As with all of the items we offer for sale this Writing Table has been cleaned and naturally wax polished in the traditional manner by our skilled restorers in our workshops before being offered for sale, meaning that it is ready for immediate use.
