Object Description
For sale is a fine quality Regency mahogany drum table of small proportions, labelled Druce & Co. Having a red leather top, decorated with gold tooling, the table is fitted with two drawers and two faux drawers above a turned stem standing on elegant leaf-carved hipped and swept legs, raised on original castors. The table is in excellent condition for its age.
Druce & Co were renowned antique furniture cabinet makers and furniture restorers based in Baker street London. They would make, upholster and restore furniture for the wealthy clientele throughout the Victorian era. Druce & Co was established Thomas Charles Druce and his son, Herbert Druce took over the business in 1864 when Thomas Druce passed away.
Druce & Co was listed in the Marylebone Trade Directory of 1853 as ‘Furnishers, Upholsterers and Upholders for clients of discernment’.
This piece was once situated in Elveden Hall having been purchased by the 1st Earl of Iveagh (Edward Cecil Guiness)
