Staffordshire cat on cushion

Object Description

Staffordshire figure which features a cat, seated on a tasselled cushion base. Bright gilt base line. Decorated ‘in the round’ – decoration to front and reverse. Book reference,’Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875′ Book 2, by A.& N. Harding, page 237, figure 2869.

Object Condition

Generally good. Some rubbing to gilt. KILN EFFECTS: touch mark to the cat’s chest; shrinkage line along the mold joins; finger print to the reverse. RESTORATION. Retouched paint losses to ears, markings, tail and left eye.
