Staffordshire 'Madonna' figure

Object Description

Staffordshire figure with a religious theme which features Mary, the Madonna, stood on a round base. White and gilt version. Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Flatback, decorated only to the front. Vent hole to the underside.

Object Condition

Good. No restoration. One paint flake to her hair. Slight rubbing to gilt. KILN EFFECTS: couple of small touch marks to her side; small firing pit to the reverse; craze lines; over glazed chip to the base; shrinkage crack along the mold join to her left side.
