Object Description

Staffordshire Pottery pearlware figure with a pastoral theme which features a shepherd carrying a lost sheep on his back, stood on a plinth base. Decorated ‘in the round’ – decoration to front and reverse. Vent hole to the underside. Book reference ,’English Earthenware Figures 1740-1840′ by Pat Halfpenny, page 141

Object Condition

Fair. KILN EFFECTS: glaze pops to the ground. RESTORATION. Remodelled hind legs, hooves on front legs, rope, top of stick and end of stick. Retouched chips and flakes to base and left ear and retouched paint losses to hat, jacket, buttons and shoes.
