Staffordshire Pearlware pottery deer bocage figure

Object Description

Staffordshire Pottery figure which features a doe in front of a tree, recumbent on an oval hollow base. Decorated ‘in the round’ – decoration to front and reverse.

Object Condition

Generally good. Two hairlines to base at reverse. Tiny chip to bocage leaf. Some paint losses to base and to doe. KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack above hind, right leg; kiln detritus caught in the glaze to bocage; flecks of stray green glaze to doe. RESTORATION. Minor filled chips and retouched flakes to bocage leaves.
