Staffordshire Pearlware Sir Thomas Moore Wall Plaque

Object Description

Staffordshire Pottery pearlware plaque which features a portrait of a gentleman, resting directly on the ground, no base. Flatback, decorated only to the front. This piece represents Sir Thomas Moore, an English lawyer, social philosopher, author, statesman and noted Renaissance humanist. He was also a councillor to Henry VIII, and Lord High Chancellor of England from October 1529 to 16 May 1532.

Object Condition

Good. Any damage, wear, original manufacturing defects (kiln effects) or restoration that may be present, is minor and not detracting.
