Object Description

Staffordshire Pottery pearlware bocage figure which features a doe in front of a tree, recumbent on a shaped hollow base. Decorated ‘in the round’ – decoration to front and reverse.

Object Condition

Good. Two chips to lower base edge. Some small chips to bocage leaves and shredded clay to base. Some small flakes to shredded clay to base and to left ear. KILN EFFECTS: touch mark to doe’s neck; a few specks of kiln grit caught in the glaze to doe’s body. RESTORATION. Minor filled chips and retouched flakes to bocage leaf tips.
