Staffordshire sailors & cannon figure group

Object Description

Staffordshire group with a maritime theme which features two sailors with a cannon, stood on a shaped base. Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Decorated ‘in the round’ – decoration to front and reverse. Vent hole to the underside. Book reference ,’Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875′ Book 1, by A.& N. Harding, page 243, figure 857.

Object Condition

Generally good. A few paint losses to the ribbon on their hats. Slight rubbing to gilt. RESTORATION: Crouched sailor’s head reglued and join retouched. Filled chip to standing sailor’s right hand and hat and one to the crouching sailor’s hat. Retouched paint losses.
