Object Description

A very fine sterling silver inkstand with bell in the George I style made in 1937 by Chapple and Mantell of London.
This wonderful heavy inkstand is a direct copy of a Paul de Lamerie original of c1725. At this period bells were often incorporated so one could ring for your servant to take your letter. The inkstand is in excellent condition and completely hand made. The inkwells still retain their original glass inserts and all the component parts are hallmarked.

Chapple and Mantell in the Strand were very fine silversmiths specialising in early Georgian reproduction silverware.
