Object Description
Elegant stoneware vessel with removable lid and with small lug handles to the shoulders, decorated with blue and dusky rose bands with brown splashes on a pitted grey ground, the foot rim and lip unglazed, the glazed foot bearing the potter’s mark. Andrew Davidson, late 20th century. Influenced by the work of Lucie Rie, pots by Davidson are comparatively rare. He worked alone never making more than a few hundred pots a year. Standards were high and seconds were generally smashed. He is no longer potting following a car accident in 2008.
