Object Description
An interesting carved walnut striking drop dial wall clock by John Ward, Kensington, dated c. 1870.
The twin chain fusee movement strikes on a gong, with anchor escapement, shouldered plates and wood rod pendulum with brass cylindrical bob.
The completely original 12-inch white painted Roman numeral dial is signed for JOHN WARD, KENSINGTON to the centre, with a brass bezel.
The walnut case features a carved leaf dial surround, the case with a rectangular glazed drop-trunk glazed to the sides and with a mirror back. Above the glazing, the sides have pierced side doors, the base with cavetto moulding and scroll carved brackets.
