Object Description

Stunning small size early 18th century George 1st burr walnut kneehole desk of a most gorgeous colour. Burr walnut veneered front and top with straight grain walnut sides. The drawers all with feather banding and cock beaded edges. The top has a wonderful oval in the middle with feather banding and quartered veneers around the oval. The desk sits on nice shaped bracket feet. The middle cupboard has its original brass ‘H’ hinges with a later Victorian lock with working key, the shaped part above is also a drawer. All the drawers are oak lined with the bottom boards going from front to back.

The fretted brass plate handles are old Victorian replacements as are all the brass drawer locks but the one key does now work all the drawer locks. If you take one of the locks out you can see where the original iron locks have been with the pins down through the top.

The desk is a gorgeous colour with waxed finish.
