Object Description

A superb 18th century (circa 1780) oak Norfolk chest with excellent patina.

This chest consists of a solid oak top with a moulded edge leading down to a shaped and moulded frieze.

This leads down to a central arcaded cupboard door with inlaid star decoration and original brass escutcheon with four graduated short drawers with original brass handles leading down to three graduated long drawers with brass handles and escutcheons, all drawers having oak drawer fronts with a moulded edge and elm linings.

The chest is supported on four shaped bracket feet with oak sides.

At some point over the years the chest has been ‘cut’ (which is not uncommon due to small doorways in cottages etc.), it has however been superbly restored over the years and the chest has retained its wonderful patina (colour).

This chest is in excellent condition for age, is of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
