Object Description
This very good quality Charles I silver sweetmeat dish was made in London in 1634 by Thomas Munday and measures 7.5 inches handle to handle by 5.5 inches in dia and is almost 1 inch tall, the handles on either side are designed as shells and it has a petal edge with beautiful embossing and punch beading designs to the face of the dish with a central shield shaped cartouche bearing the initials and date I*W 1684, the patterning is still very crisp and it is fully and clearly hallmarked to the back of the rim, a very nice early piece in super condition.
