Object Description
This exceptionally pretty Charles II silver pique and tortoiseshell box was made C1680 and measures 2.75 inches in length by 2 1/8 inches wide and is 0.5 inches deep, the standaway hinged pique top is beautifully decorated with a band of dots a band of flower heads and a silver line inside which are scrolling tulip heads, leaves, clovers and flower heads and to the centre a circle with a dot circle inside and a central dot, the hinge and silver to the sides is in good order and the shell base is good, the lid has a small crack to the edge on one side which I would think has been there a long time and isn’t detracting from this beautifully decorated lid. A super box.
