Object Description
A superb pair of Regency style bronze and mahogany torcheres in the manner of George Smith or Thomas Hope in the Egyptian style which was a typical influence in this period.
The torcheres each consist of a circular mahogany top leading down to a fluted bronze column with scrolling foliate design towards the base.
The superb tripod bronze bases retain traces of original gilding and consist of splayed naturalistic animal legs with foliate decoration, three animal paw feet with stylised anthemion designs all supported on bronze tri-form plinths.
This pair of torcheres are in very good original condition for age, are of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
Please note: each torchere has one small hole in the mahogany top and base having previously been electrified but these can easily be hidden.
