Object Description
A late 19th century superb quality mahogany torchère in the 18th century style, stamped ‘H SAMUEL 484 OXFORD ST LONDON’.
This fine quality torchère consists of a recessed top with serpentine shaped edges and carved bead decoration.
The top is supported by a fluted tapering column with carved bead collar and foliate carved decoration leading down to a tripod base with carved cabriole legs terminating with three carved ball and claw feet.
The company of Henry Samuel, ‘H SAMUEL 484 OXFORD ST LONDON’ (1881-1913) were dealers in high quality works of art, particularly specialising in copies of 18th century items as well as in period pieces of furniture, all of fine quality and design.
This torchère is in very good condition for age, is of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
