Object Description
A mid 19th century specimen marble top walnut centre table of superb quality.
This table consists of a superb specimen marble top with a central inlaid design of a bird resting on a branch with leaves and berries, this is surrounded by a geometric design of various inlaid specimen stones including marbles, semi-precious stones and gem stones such as Lapis Lazuli, Blue John, Verde Antico (further stones detailed below)
The marble is supported in a walnut recessed top with walnut cross banded edge surrounded by a moulding.
This leads down to the frieze which is recessed and has two hidden walnut drawers along one side (with mahogany linings) and square corner blocks to each of the four corners with turned drop finials.
This leads down to the sophisticated base of wonderful patina that consists of two imposing S-scrolling end supports being carved and pierced in an architectural Tuscan style with ebonised turned paterae decoration.
The supports lead down to moulded block feet and terminate brass castors.
This table is in excellent condition for age, is of stable construction and can go straight into a home
