Object Description
A finely modelled hollow-mould terracotta Chinese Tang period statuette of a male court attendant. The figure is shown wearing a long sleeves robe, tied to the waist, and long trousers. The hair is arranged in a high-bun, and the right hand is held to the chest in the act of holding an offering, possibly incense. The right hand has been perforated for this purpose. The figure’s surface still displays traces of original pigmentations, which would have been applied after firing.
