Object History

J. Padwick, the artist’s son, by whom given to a friend of the family in August 1961. Thence the collection of Grant Waters, author of The Dictionary of British Artists 1900-1950.

Object Literature

Hugh Padwick was born on 28th April 1876 in Horsham.. He was educated at Repton and studied at the Slade School of Art. He lived for many years at Fittleworth in Sussex, exhibiting work at the Royal Academy , RBA, ROI, and Royal Glasgow Institute.
