Object Description

Original line engraving printed in black on wove paper from the edition of 60. Signed in pencil below the plate and inscribed ‘Ed 60’. Inscribed by the artist in pencil below the mount “This Line-engraving is dedicated by the artist to JohnN Hart, a great patron of the arts -one ever generous and staunch in friendship. SA”
This was to be Anderson’s final line engraving. He incorporated the initials of his friend John Hart into his monogram in the plate at lower right.

Object History

Given by the artist to John Hart (See Above). Bears John Hart’s collector stamp (Blind Stamp lower right beneath the mount).
With Bill Minns in 1996 thence a private collection in Sussex ever since.
Exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1953.

Object Condition

Perfect. Sold unframed in artist’s original mount.
