Object Description
This set of porcelain plates was created by the world-famous Meissen manufactory in Germany. Each plate features a different Old Master painting in its centre: one shows a portrait of a woman after Rembrandt, another depicts three men playing cards after Caravaggio, and another shows a rural scene, painted after Mieris. Around the central painting each plate features geometric gilt decorations on a blue ground, and with gilt rims. The blue sword marks of Meissen can be found underneath the plates.
