Object Description
A silver cube desk compendium including a timepiece, barometer, thermometers, calendar and compass,
made by L Regnier, France for Tiffany’s in c. 1915.
The solid silver cube case is less than 2.5 inches on each side. It has a fold-flat carrying handle to the top and a hinged door to the barometer giving access to the clock movement for winding.
The front two sides have champagne gilded dials for time and barometer.
Another side has two mercury thermometers; one for Fahrenheit, the other Centigrade.
The fourth side has an engraved calendar showing 31 days of the month and a vertical slot to the left. The slot houses a bone cylinder showing the days of the week which can be rotated, rendering the calendar relevant for any month.
The top of the case has a compass, also with champagne dial.
The eight day movement has the original lever platform escapement.
