Object Description
These exquisite gilt bronze (ormolu) lamps were crafted in the late 19th Century in France. With their classically-inspired urns, scrolls, foliage, flower and fruit swags, these lamps are clearly inspired by Louis XV period decorative arts.
Each lamp features four bulb sockets, raised up on a stem which springs from a classical urn form, decorated with foliage swags. Each urn stands on a base, which is supported by three leafy scrolls. Foliage swags are draped across the scrolls, and a cluster of grapes hangs down between them.
The lamps stand on gilt bronze covered, white marble triform plinths. These are mounted with gilt bronze motifs, composed of eagle heads, cornucopias and leafy, scrolling vines. Each lamp is set on three gilt bronze spade feet.
