Object Description
These wonderful ormolu (gilt bronze) candelabra are fashioned in the Rococo style, which first flourished in France in the Louis XV period (1715-1774). The candelabra are characteristically Rococo, being composed of elegant, organic, sinuous and asymmetrical forms.
Each candelabra features two scrolling foliate arms which hold leafy drip-pans and capitals with petalled sconces. These arms spring from stems which are composed of entwined stylised acanthus leaves. The candelabra stand on cartouche-shaped bases, on scrolled feet.
