Object Description
These pistols have been beautifully decorated with finely chased and engraved silver, and gold-damascened work. They were crafted in South-Eastern Europe in the 19th Century. The pistols are collectable, decorative pieces, which will look beautiful placed in a display cabinet, or mounted onto a wall.
The 18-bore flintlock holster pistols feature silver barrels and stocks, which are finely chased with stylised vegetal patterns. Each pistol has a spurred pommel and a ribbed grip. The pistols are fitted with silver triggers and trigger-guards. The tops of the barrels are finely damascened in gold with floral motifs and vines, enclosing pseudo Arabic inscriptions. The pistols’ tangs are gold-damascened, and the flat bevelled locks are chiselled and engraved with foliage. In their style, these pistols are clearly inspired by Islamic design.
