Object Description
Two French malachite and gilt bronze circular side tables
French, c. 1900
Height 69cm, diameter 62cm
These elegant circular side tables (French: ‘guéridons’) were crafted in France in the early 20th Century, c.1900. Owing to their refined style and use of materials, these tables will suit any interior, be it antique or contemporary in its design.
The tables feature circular malachite tops which are encircled by gilt bronze (ormolu) bands. Each table top is placed on three gilt bronze stylised cabriole legs with scrolled tops. The legs support a small shelf about half way down, which is crafted from malachite and edged with gilt bronze. The tables’ legs terminate in paw feet which are linked to one another by openwork triangular stretchers.
