Object Description
These beautiful circular side tables (French: guéridons) have been crafted from the finest materials, including marble, gilt bronze (ormolu) and mahogany wood. The tables are designed in a refined Neoclassical style which is associated with the reign of Louis XVI (1774-1792).
The tables feature circular red-veined black marble tops, which are encircled by gilt bronze and set on mahogany. Each top is supported by six gilt bronze posts which are paired to form three legs. These posts are designed to simulate bamboo shafts. The legs are linked, at their bases, by triform mahogany stretchers which are edged with gilt bronze bands. Each table stands on three splayed mahogany and gilt bronze feet.
