Object Description
These exquisite silver-plated wine coolers are designed in the form of the famous Medici vase. The so-called Medici vase was an ancient bell-shaped krater that was rediscovered in Rome in the Renaissance period.
The wine coolers feature bell-shaped bodies with flared mouths, which are edged with stylised scrolled acanthus leaves. Each wine cooler is fitted with two short upward-turned handles which take the form of leafy vines. The wine coolers’ bodies are engraved with bird heads. The items stand on splayed feet, which are encircled with scrolled foliage. The wine coolers bear the marks of Sheffield, in England.
