Jean Campa’s sculpture composes a rhythmic and natural music that resonates within us. An industrial designer by training, he pivoted to dental surgery but gradually dedicated himself to his artistic practice. His first works in clay were figurative, but his passion for jazz inspired him to translate musical improvisation to physical abstract forms.

Jean Campa’s work can be defined as post-Dada, where structures are spatialized to define a new aesthetic. Form is expressed through iron and aluminum, and his personal demands drive him to constant research.

He frequented artists such as Gérard Schneider, Etienne Martin, Jean Villeri, René Char, André Verdet and Consuelo de Saint-Exupéry who supported him in developing his practice. In addition to numerous solo exhibitions, both in France and abroad, Jean Campa participated in numerous exhibitions, particularly “Jeune Sculpture” and the “Salon de Mai”. He has created monumental works in Paris, Marly-Le-Roy, Sèvres and Marseille. The museums of Dunkirk and Saint-Omer have acquired his works.

Several Jean Campa sculptures are on permanent display in the sculpture park of renowned French poets Elsa Triolet and Louis Aragon in Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines, France.
