Object Description

This attractive example has a rare design and monochrome colour combination. The so-called pomegranate drawing symbolises prosperity and fertility and is framed by several borders, all intact, a rare feature for a rug of this age.  Would complement a wide variey of settings nicely.

Object History

Beshir rugs are woven by the Beshir tribesmen of Turkmenistan in Central Asia. They have a distinctive weaving technique in a region where most rugs are recognised by their elephant foot patterns in deep reds and dark blues.

Object Condition

In very good practical condition.
