Object Description
Unusual French gilt bronze cushion-form chandelier
French, late 19th Century
Height 59cm, width 51cm, depth 51cm
This unusual and beautiful gilt bronze chandelier is modelled in a decadent style as a cushion. The chandelier body features five points, each terminating in a single candle holder set above a tassel drop finial. The surface of the body of the chandelier is richly moulded with a host of detailing, which gives the piece the appearance of an exotic cushion. The body is supported by a long tapering shaft, which is in turn supported by an ornately moulded chain. The underside of the chandelier is centred with a gilt bronze drop finial.
