Object Description
This very large George III silver vinaigrette was made in Birmingham in 1809 by Matthew Linwood and measures 2 9/16 inches in length by 1.75 inches wide and is approx 0 .75 inches at it’s deepest, it has a reeded design to the body and edges with a hinged lid opening to reveal a gilded interior with large pierced and scrolling leaves and flower heads and is fully hallmarked to the front lip of the base, a most unusual vinaigrette in very good condition weighing 2.55 ounces or 80 grams.
