Object Description
Very large gilt bronze and Bohemian blue enamelled glass centrepiece
Bohemian, late 19th Century
Height 85cm, diameter 45cm
This remarkable centrepiece vase is unusual not only for its extraordinary size, but for the striking vibrancy of its colouration.
The vase is comprised of a structure wrought from gilt bronze in a naturalistic manner: the legs, for instance, resemble branches, with leaves and berries interspersed. The gilt bronze structure supports a lower glass bowl and an upper glass flute, the glass of both a beautiful bright blue and enamelled with pink flowers, green leaves, and ornately coloured birds.
The piece is a wonderful example of Bohemian design.
