Object Description
This very rare George II silver lidded cream jug was made in London in 1759 by William Vincent and measures5.75 inches tall by 4 inches from the handle to spout and is 2 inches in dia across the base. This is a very unusual design and has a swag and drop pattern just below a bead and dash line where the base joins the shoulders, the scrolled handle has a scrolled acanthus leaf design and it has a gadrooned border around the hinged lid and an acanthus leaf circle around the lid finial, it is fully hallmarked under the base and is in excellent condition weighing 5.95 ounces or 185 grams.
