Object Description
These very unusual good quality George III Irish silver snuffers and tray were made in Dublin in 1809 by James Scott and measure 9 1/8 inches long by 4 inches wide (tray) and 7 inches long snuffers, they have a French gadrooned border with scrolled acanthus leaf and shell detailing to either end with a large band of bright cut engraving around the bottom of the tray with a central cartouche bearing the initials M in flowing script, this patterning is repeated to the snuffers on the cover and they have square bright cut finger rings and stems with a central flower head design on the hinge and the they stand on 3 turned feet and are hallmarked inside the cover to both sides and the tray is marked underneath, a very unusual design in very good condition weighing 9.05 ounces or 282 grams.
