Object Description
An exceptional antique sapphire and diamond cluster ring. The sapphire ring the centre – certified as natural, unheated and originating from Ceylon (Sri Lanka) – an a deep, electric blue and is surrounded by eight white and bright natural old mine cut diamonds in a coronet cluster setting. The ring is crafted in rose gold, with the rare purity of 12k; a standard only used between 1854 and 1932. The head of the ring sit between bold, trumpeting shoulders which conform to a slim D-shaped shank. Currently UK size M or US size 6 (complimentary sizing available).
Accompanied by a sapphire report from The Gem & Pearl Laboratory stating the sapphire shows no evidence of heating, and is Sri Lankan (Ceylon) in origin.
Cut – Oval cut sapphire and old mine cut diamonds.
Colour – The diamonds are F to G.
Clarity – The sapphire has inclusion which are visible with a loupe. The diamonds range from VS2 to SI2.
Carat –The sapphire is a known 0.63 carat, with a total approximate diamond weight of 0.90 carat.
Circa – 1890.
Measurements – The sapphire is 5.9 x 4.4mm. The head of the ring is 11.6 x 10.3mm and sits 6.2mm from the finger.
Size – M (UK) or 6 (US). Complimentary sizing is available, can go up or down.
Weight – 2.61 grams.
Metal – 12k rose gold. Tested.
