A Good Quality Mid 19th Century Figured Yew Wood Tea Caddy Of Sarchophagus Form Having Well Figured Sides And Hinged Pagoda Top Enclosing Three Sections With Two Removable Canisters, Raised On Original Turned Bun Feet.
An excellent quality 19th century victorian tea caddy featuring wonderfully figured, decorative yew wood veneers which retains a good rich colour. This tea caddy is slightly larger than the norm but as a result it means it has real presence and looks great on top of a whole host of different surfaces and is in no danger of being dominated and therefore unseen.
Tea was an extremely valuable commodity throughout the course of the 18th and 19th centuries. Therefore of course something was required to store the precious tea leaves in and ensure that they remain in their peak condition for as long as possible, whilst at the same time offering a little security to stop any wandering hands.
This tea caddy comes with a fully functioning lock and key, plus has been cleaned and traditionally waxed polished by our highly skilled and well trained specialist antique furniture restorers in our workshops before being offered for sale and is therefore ready for immediate placement.
