Description:
An antique curb link Albert chain in 18ct yellow gold, circa 1900. The chain is composed of uniform oval links, each individually stamped 18ct. It terminates with a classic T-bar drop and secures with an Albert clasp.

The Albert chain is said to have been named after Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s consort who was said to be particularly partial to this style of watch chain. The T-bar would have been worn attached through the buttonhole of the waistcoat. Today usually worn as a necklace, this style is incredibly popular and many would consider an essential for a jewellery box. Finding an antique Albert chain in 18ct gold is more unusual and this example has a lovely weight and is in excellent condition showcasing beautiful Victorian craftmanship with hallmarks on all links.
